Investment Overview

Waterton Global invests in and actively manages precious and base metals mining assets that are located in stable jurisdictions. As part of the firm’s investment underwriting process, Waterton Global’s in-house mining, permitting and investment professionals formulate and, subsequent to closing, execute on bespoke value creation programs for each asset to maximize its value prior to exit.

  • Opportunities for value creation that align with the firm’s in-house expertise (e.g. resource and mine optimization, economic study work and permitting)
  • Focus on precious and base metals
  • Held primarily by public companies
  • Target investment size of between $20M and $300M

Focus

Waterton Global actively manages its project-level investments and leverages its in-house mining, permitting and investment origination expertise to create value at its assets by:

  • Improving resource quality and size
  • Advancing permitting initiatives
  • Developing and implementing mine plan optimization strategies
  • Right-sizing mining equipment and infrastructure to reduce mining costs and capital expenditures
  • Determining optimal processing methods to improve recoveries
  • Consolidating assets to achieve greater economies of scale

Exit

Waterton Global employs a disciplined approach to exiting investments, waiting until value creation initiatives have been completed and market conditions allow, in order to maximize value for its investors.
